Backstory – Mother’s Magic
I had just hung up the phone after talking with my mom. It had been a rather short conversation this time; she was busy and had to rush off. I had called her, not for anything special. I just wanted to hear her voice.
OK, let me tell the truth. I called because I knew that before the conversation was ended, she would have reminded me, possibly more than once, what a fine human being I am. That’s something on which I could always count. No matter what error I had made or what faux pas I had committed, she could always see my good intention or my high level consideration.
Anyway, when I hung up, I wrote this Consider This show.

Mother’s Magic – #02-137
What magic is given to mothers that they have such an ability to soothe? Antibiotics may cure the illness, but it’s a mother’s hands that soothe the pain, calm the fears and provide the reassurance.
Your hand in your mom’s can fix things, at any age. She always seems to know how you feel, what you need and what might be worrying you. She’s someone you can talk to, turn to, confess to.
What a wonderful gift she is. Her smile can remind you of the best in yourself. Her encouragement can convince you that you CAN get it done.
When she doesn’t agree with you, she just may give you the cause to pause that results in making a better decision.
On Mother’s Day and year-round, give thanks that God made mothers. Something to consider.
P.S (After the show…)
Mom has been gone from my daily life, for some time now. She sure is not gone from my spiritual life though. My husband and I credit her celestial intercession every time we get a prime parking space while others find none. We are reminded of her every time a butterfly is spotted, or when we hear one of her pet terminologies (like “believe you me”). She was such a positive impact on my life that I will never forget her. Now that really is the magic of motherhood.
