Backstory
Some young mothers schooled at home. Some worked and tended simultaneously. Every mother soothed and promised that fun times would return.
Young Mom Heroes
This Mother’s Day will be particularly special for young mothers. Those who will enthusiastically accept the vase of dandelions, handmade cards from school, the poetry of childhood strained to express the love they feel.
It’s so difficult to be a mother today. There are so many constraints that require concern and worry. The media’s emphasis on negative happenings can convince you there’s a boogey man around every corner. Strangers are influencing your children and they seem to get less exposed to less gentle things so very early.
Yet, in most families here in the valley, there is a loving young mother doing her best to counteract the downsides to make life safe and sweet and secure. To ensure that their children know the benefits of love and being good and obedience and respect.
To those young mothers, accept this salute for the fine job you are doing as you juggle home, job, volunteering, and most of all, caring for your children.
Happy Mother’s Day, and thanks for all you do.
P.S.
In the spirit of motherly gratitude, thanks too to those who help young mothers. The grandparents, babysitting friends and those who share trips or chores. Every bit helps when young parents have so many roles to fill. Happy Mother’s Day to you all too.
